What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitoring and managing key performance indicators for the Construction Sector Underwriting business in the broker channel.
  • Supporting the delivery of underwriting results through account management, financial planning, and analysis of underwriting trends.
  • Leading profitability initiatives, underwriting governance, and control for the Construction Commercial business traded through brokers.
  • Identifying and converting mid to large-scale rollover deals to meet volume and revenue targets.
  • Monitoring underwriting standards and supporting change programs, exploring new opportunities, and driving renewal strategies.
  • Providing guidance to trading teams, managing large new business submissions, and ensuring excellent customer service.
  • Identifying opportunities for new products and process improvements to enhance underwriting rules and customer experience.
  • Analyzing portfolios, developing action plans, and collaborating with other lead members of the trading team.
  • Acting as the business lead or underwriting representative on cross-functional projects and producing regular reports with findings and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a general insurer/intermediary, including experience in a risk acceptance and rating environment, with at least a CIP qualification.
  • A relevant degree, MDI/ACII would be an advantage.
  • Expertise in specific business classes.
  • In-depth knowledge of underwriting, rating, and acceptance criteria for Construction Property/Casualty/CAR business.
  • Strong proficiency in key business KPIs and report writing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and market factors.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong planning and teamwork skills.
  • Effective relationship management and communication skills.
  • Ability to make and clearly communicate quality risk assessment decisions.
  • Commitment to professional standards and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and negotiation skills.
  • Awareness of compliance with Health & Safety, IT Security, and underwriting-related legislation.

Note: Eligibility and authorization to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom is a precondition for this role.
