Our client, a growing MGA in Dublin, which specialises in Motor Fleet Insurance, Property & Liability Insurance is seeking a full-time Underwriter to join their Motor Fleet team.
The Underwriter will be responsible for writing new and renewal business and acting as a referral point for MTAs. The role has a broker development aspect and must be supported by a high level of customer service. Objectives are to meet the internal budget and deliver underwriting profitability for the capacity partner.
Key Duties
- Managing new and renewal policies.
- Assess the suitability of incoming enquiries and the alignment of their exposures to risk appetite.
- Determine suitable premium using the prescribed pricing model.
- Negotiate with the brokers using available tools to win the business.
- Assess the performance of the policy and its contribution to current results.
- Engage the broker to achieve renewal at the optimal terms.
- Conduct role in line with individual Underwriting Authority.
- Provides prompt, courteous, and professional customer service to Brokers and Carrier partners.
- Develop support from the broker panel by demonstrating excellent standards.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continually strive for operational efficiency.
- Binds and issues policies per carrier guidelines.
- Utilises an underwriting system to determine ratings and prepare quotations for new and renewal business within internal and carrier guidelines.
- Accurately reviews and files documentation for policies and processes as needed.
- Takes ownership of their client files and workload.
- Processes and adjusts premiums on the system.
- Provides other technical and clerical support as underwriting staff and management require.
Experience and Qualifications
- Experienced in underwriting motor fleet business. Underwriting experience in Motor Fleet is desirable.
- A track record of writing new business in any class.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory practices in the industry
- CIP qualification or higher required.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Good time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Capability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must demonstrate teamwork and develop productive relationships with peers and management.
- The ability to work proactively, identify problems, and find solutions.
- Attention to detail is essential.
- Ability to work efficiently on computer systems and quickly learn new systems.
- Experienced with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
