Purpose of the Role
The Risk Surveyor will deliver professional risk assessment services to a wide range of clients, acting as a trusted advisor and supporting both internal teams and external partners in managing and mitigating risk effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed risk assessments and valuations, both remotely and on-site, producing accurate and high-quality reports in line with company procedures.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams such as Claims, Underwriting, and Operations to ensure a consistent and informed approach to risk.
  • Maintain close relationships with brokers and key clients, providing expert guidance and contributing to the overall customer experience.
  • Represent the company at industry events, workshops, and client seminars to promote the value of risk management and contribute to business growth.
  • Share insights and best practices across teams to strengthen technical capability and enhance service delivery.
  • Manage workload effectively, taking responsibility for scheduling, quality, and professional development.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and process enhancement.
  • Participate in internal projects and initiatives as required.

  • Compliance with company standards and technical requirements.

  • Achievement of personal performance objectives.

Skills and Experience

  • Professional insurance qualification (MDI or equivalent), ideally progressing toward ACII.
  • NEBOSH certification or willingness to complete.
  • Previous experience conducting insurance risk surveys and appraisals across fire, theft, liability, and business interruption.
  • Solid understanding of insurance principles and regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of building design, construction, and fire protection systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, concise reports.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to calculate reinstatement values and assess maximum loss scenarios (training available).
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage workload independently.
  • Full clean driving licence required.
