This pivotal role focuses on developing and executing strategic growth plans in collaboration with the Head of Sales and Distribution and the Strategic Account Manager.
As a market-facing position, it combines relationship management and underwriting responsibilities, with an emphasis on acquiring new business and retaining key renewals. The role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with an assigned panel of brokers, working closely with Strategic Account Managers to drive sustainable, profitable growth and achieve revenue targets aligned with the company’s business objectives.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:
Profitable Growth

  • Align with the client’s business growth objectives by supporting strategies to maximize new and existing business opportunities and enhance market presence.
  • Leverage internal business data and industry intelligence to provide insights that inform strategic revenue and customer growth planning, supporting future underwriting activities.
  • Explore new revenue streams and market opportunities by adopting innovative approaches to identify diverse and exciting possibilities.
  • Monitor and evaluate client activity to maintain a strategic focus on profitable accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to influence, negotiate, and secure engagement, enabling the delivery of strategic growth plans and maximizing underwriting opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Account Managers to enhance lead generation efforts.
  • Work closely with Product Leads and Underwriting Managers to ensure efficient business acquisition that aligns with customer needs.
  • Promote nationwide collaboration to drive cross-selling, improve retention rates, and meet segment and business-wide targets.
  • Support effective loss ratio management by ensuring adherence to established business strategies.
  • Develop and nurture profitable customer relationships through regular communication and visits, aligned with specific customer strategies.
  • Resolve issues promptly while maintaining a “Customer First” approach.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking activities to enhance market visibility.
  • Act as the technical underwriting lead during broker or strategic partner meetings, delivering presentations and training workshops as required.
  • Lead and contribute to team or company-wide projects as assigned.

Knowledge Leadership

  • Serve as a referral point for underwriting team members, ensuring consistent service delivery in line with underwriting authority and segment targets.
  • Enhance the technical and trading capabilities of the underwriting team by acting as a technical mentor and reference for all policy classes.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to cultivate a high-performance culture, setting an example by adhering to the client’s behavioural standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and activities in CRM systems (Dynamics 365) to support proactive cross-segment collaboration and future opportunities.
  • Implement and uphold procedures and processes to meet internal service standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in training to develop the necessary knowledge and skills required for effective role performance.

 
Essential:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with core insurance products relevant to the role.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the UK insurance market.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Degree educated or demonstrable relevant industry experience
